Excerpt from our newsletter:
“Dear SDE21/22 Interested People, Climate Savers and Forward Thinkers,
A turbulent and exciting year is coming to an end. We would like to take this opportunity to look back at 2021 and look ahead to the next year. Earlier this month, on December 01st, we also submitted our fifth deliverable. So we are getting closer and closer to the competition finals in June 2022.
We used the summer semester to revise our design, both the Building Design and the House Demonstration Unit together with architecture students. Since the winter semester, we have been concentrating on the work planning of the House Demonstration Unit and concretizing further topics in the planning of the Building Design. Among other things, we focused on the design of the outdoor space, mobility concepts on the site itself, the neighborhood as well as on an urban level. During the year, we also developed an innovative and resilient energy concept for our Addition to Café Ada and our House Demonstration Unit.
We are currently in contact with several companies that support our vision of sustainable building and living and support our competition entry both financially and through contributions in kind.
Thank you for this great support, which enables us to realize our project contribution in Wuppertal and to demonstrate our ideas for sustainable building and living.
An overview of our partners can be found here.
As we only have two weeks to set up our House Demonstration Unit at the competition finals in Wuppertal, we will start the prefabrication of our technical center in the new year. This will be followed by the prefabrication of our wooden modules in cooperation with the Zimmerausbildungszentrum Biberach in spring.
You are welcome to already take a look at the competition program here.
With this outlook into the following months and the competition finals of the Solar Decathlon Europe 2021 (in 2022) we wish you happy holidays and a good 2022!
See you very soon,
Team X4S of HBC”
